OH Chapter 6
Chapter 6: The Queen’s Secret
The golden light led them into the clearing.
Tom, Howley Owl, and Bella stood still.
Before them rose a great palace made of living wood.
Its walls were shaped like giant trees. Soft light flowed through its branches. Vines moved slowly, as if they were breathing.
Tom felt something strange in his chest.
Not fear.
Something else.
“Why does this place feel… familiar?” he whispered.
“Howley,” Tom said, “have we been here before?”
Howley Owl did not answer at once.
He looked at Tom carefully.
“Not like this,” he said slowly.
Bella stepped forward.
“But the forest knows you,” she said.
Tom turned.
“What do you mean?”
Bella lowered her head slightly.
“Places remember,” she said.
“Especially places filled with magic.”
The large doors of the palace opened on their own.
No sound.
No guards.
Only soft golden light from inside.
“Come,” a gentle voice called.
Tom froze.
That voice…
He had heard it before.
Far away…
On Sun Island…
Denver Joe sat near the fire.
His eyes widened.
“That voice…” he whispered.
Old Maro continued speaking.
But now Denver Joe was not just listening.
He was feeling the story.
Back in Kallivana…
Tom stepped inside the palace.
The air felt warm and calm.
At the center of the hall stood a tall figure.
She wore a crown of leaves and light.
Her eyes were kind, but strong.
It was Queen Lara.
Beside her stood another presence.
Not fully seen.
Like light in human form.
Soft. Bright. Endless.
Tom felt a deep silence inside him.
He knew.
This was no ordinary being.
“Welcome, Tom,” Queen Lara said.
Her voice was gentle.
“But her eyes studied him closely.
“As if she already knew him.”
Tom bowed slightly.
“You called me,” he said.
Queen Lara smiled.
“Yes,” she said.
“But not for the first time.”
Tom looked up quickly.
“What do you mean?”
Before the Queen could answer, the light beside her moved.
A voice, soft but powerful, filled the hall.
“You feel it, don’t you?”
Tom turned slowly.
The light shaped into a form.
It was Qia Janami.
Tom could not speak.
The air felt different.
Still.
Powerful.
“You feel the memory,” Qia Janami said.
“Even if you do not understand it.”
Tom held his wrist.
The mark flickered again.
Brighter this time.
Far away…
Denver Joe suddenly held his wrist too.
The same warmth.
The same glow.
He gasped softly.
Back in the palace…
“What is this?” Tom asked.
“Why does this keep happening?”
Qia Janami stepped closer.
“That mark,” she said, “is not given.”
“It returns.”
Tom frowned.
“Returns… from where?”
Queen Lara spoke gently.
“From a promise,” she said.
“A promise made when the forest was first protected.”
Tom felt his heart beat faster.
“I don’t remember any promise,” he said.
Qia Janami looked at him deeply.
“You do,” she said softly.
“Just not yet.”
Howley Owl shifted uneasily.
“This is dangerous,” he said.
“If he does not remember…”
Bella stepped closer to Tom.
“He will,” she said quietly.
“When the time is right.”
Tom looked between them.
“I don’t understand any of this,” he said.
Qia Janami raised her hand.
A pool of light appeared in the air.
“Then see,” she said.
The light moved like water.
Images formed.
A boy running through the forest.
Talking to animals.
Standing in this very hall.
Tom stepped closer.
“That’s… me,” he whispered.
“But… different.”
The image shifted.
For a brief moment—
Another face appeared.
Not Tom.
Another boy.
From another world.
Far away…
Denver Joe leaned forward suddenly.
His heart raced.
“Wait…” he said.
The image vanished.
The hall became silent again.
Tom looked confused.
“Who was that?” he asked.
Qia Janami lowered her hand.
“That,” she said,
“is a question you must answer yourself.”
Queen Lara stepped forward.
“The forest is in danger again,” she said.
“And you have been chosen to protect it.”
Tom took a deep breath.
“But why me?” he asked.
The Queen looked at him gently.
Then said the words that echoed beyond time:
“Because you always are.”
Far away…
Denver Joe felt those words like a shock.
He looked at Old Maro.
“What does that mean?” he asked.
Old Maro smiled slowly.
“It means,” he said,
“the story is remembering you.”
The fire burned brighter.
The night grew still.
And somewhere deep inside—
Something began to awaken.
To be continued…
